The Spark (ep. #22)

Early alpha, updates and news

Hello and welcome to the episode #22 of “The Spark“ newsletter!

Here you can find everything you need to stay up-to-date with upcoming and existing NFT projects and web3 games.

Now let’s dive into the info

Episode structure:

[Early alpha] section:

1. Bowled

  • Building a ‘sports-based social gaming platform’

  • Raised 7 figures in funding from Sky Mavis, YGG and multiple angel investors

  • Upcoming collection will be a free mint with low supply

My take:

This startup has been on the market for a while and now they’re gearing up for an upcoming mint.

Platform’s stats are already quite good - 12M+ games played, 30M+ transactions processed, 60k monthly active users. They’re also offering SDK solutions to other teams and operate as B2B company.

Team members are publicly doxxed and company exists since 2021, which is another positive point.

Besides of upcoming mint, there will also be a token launch in late Q1 / early Q2. But for now, they’re lacking on marketing side, so it’s hard to predict how it will perform.

Either way, project already looks decent, and it’s going to be a free mint, so I would keep an eye on their further development.

Bowled

  • P2E gaming ecosystem on Bitcoin

  • Powered by Gamestarter

My take:

Not much info available on the surface, but I’ve found some facts on Gamestarter website. It will be a sandbox-like game with pretty much no limitations. Think Minecraft, but deconstructed, and you can build it all by yourself.

Besides of ‘creative’ mode, there seems to be pre-built PVE/PVP modes and mini games where you can get $PIX currency. Game itself will be available on multiple platforms (both PC and phone, possibly VR in future).

Not sure at what stage project is right now, but they seem to have solid backing. Plus, BTC narrative looks strong, and at the same time I don’t know many gaming projects on BTC, so this one can take a spotlight pretty easily with the right marketing.

0 posts on their X page yet, so we’re pretty much early.

I’ve partnered with Calamity to provide my subscribers 1 GUARANTEED WL spot for their upcoming low supply free mint.

Calamity is a 2D top-down multiplayer action RPG with real-time gameplay. Drawing inspiration from classic titles such as World of Warcraft, Diablo, Albion Online, and others.

Game features familiar PvP and PvE mechanics, progression system, trading, diverse skills, classes, and enemies.

Aside from expected free mint collection, incentivized beta test (play-to-airdrop) campaign is coming in late Q1, where players will be able to try the game and position themselves for the future token airdrop.
